Hey! My name is Derek Simmers

I’m an illustrator/muralist/creative collaborator living in Yellowknife, Canada.

I’m interested in complementing ideas, people and spaces with rich visuals that connect to viewers through a sense of curiosity and wonder.

In recent years I’ve painted several large scale murals through-out Canada. My aim is to enliven spaces with lush colours, dense imagery, and playful characters that relate to the spirit of the communities that feature them.

I also regularly engage across disciplines with other community oriented practices to work on projects that interest me, ranging from urban gardens and design-builds, to workshop design and facilitation.

Collaboration is key for me. I love exploring new possibilities through sharing skill and vision in creative exchange with other people.
